CONTINUOUS DRILLS

The ESSENTIAL SKILL in pool billiards is POTTING OBJECT BALLS (OB) and more object balls and more…! Without that you will not be able to win any games. In this DRILL SECTION we have prepared a great collection of challenging POTTING DRILLS for all type of skill levels. As a Beginner you can easily learn how to aim, as a Intermediate or Advanced player you will learn the harder cut and position shots. Distance will not be an issue any more! You`ll improve your potting abilities in a short time for the most common shots.

Over time AIMING will become easier for you, because your brain will be programmed during the drill time with the POCKET-SNIPER. You`ll start seeing the POCKET-SNIPER lying on the table, although it is not there anymore. All drill situations should then be set up also mirrored, to avoid building up a “sweet side” for potting balls (Some players find it easier potting balls to the left or to the right).

QUICK POCKET-SNIPER MANUAL

The POCKET-SNIPER is the simpliest and most effective training DEVICE FOR AMING on the market today. It stays on the table during the entire practice session without interfering the roll of the balls. Aligne the POCKET-SNIPER to the center of the pocket using the long black center line with the black arrow. The white circle represents the ghost ball and the blue semi-circle represents the Object-Ball (OB). It is necessary to shoot the Cue-Ball (CB) directly through the marked centerpoint of the white ghost ball to succeed.

POCKET SNIPER - QUICK INSTRUCTION

HOW TO USE

It is really easy to use the POCKET-SNIPER. Read this quick explanation and learn in less then a minute how it works.

1. Place the POCKET-SNIPER at the wanted Object-Ball (OB) position.

2. Put the OB1 on the POCKET-SNIPER, at the right spot.

3. Place the Cue-Ball (CB) at the desired position. You can also set-up a Target-Ball (TB) if you want to hit it after the potting of the OB.

4. Play the OB1 into the corner pocket! Stay down during your entire stroke and watch where the CB is running. If you hit the TB great, if not, adjust your spin on the CB when potting the OB2.

5. Put the OB2 on the POCKET-SNIPER and reset the CB and TB again.

6. Play the OB2 into the corner pocket and continue your practise session…

Continue with the drill until all desired OBs have been used. Than set up the same drill on the other side of the table (mirrowed image) and play it again!

NOTE: The crossing black line on the POCKET-SNIPER represents the Tangent-Line (TL). It is aligned in a 90 degree angle to the center line and it stands for the way the CB will take after hitting the OB when played as a Stop- or Stun-Shot (no forward or backward rotation of the CB at the moment of the contact with the OB). The TL is very powerful if you see it and if you know how to get the cue ball to follow her. Watch the following video to learn more about how to use the POCKET-SNIPER!

BEGINNER LEVEL

Start with the Potting Drill (PD) Beginner Level 1 (BL-01) and follow the detailed instructions. You can work on all of these excercises independetly of each other but we recommend you to do them in the given order. When you are able to master these shots with a given target score over and over again, you can proceed to the next step and mastering these drills without the POCKET-SNIPER.

PD // BEGINNER LEVEL

PD-BL-01

This is a standard situation. Very common scenario where the cue ball is played from the middle of the table. This cue ball position is very important, because you can play almost all object balls from this position into a free pocket.

SET-UP AND TASK

Set up the Pocket-Sniper at the location of the OB1/OB2 and align it to the right/left corner pocket as shown in the diagram. Place the OB on it. Place the CB at the midpoint of the table. Play the object ball at position OB1/OB2 into the right/left corner pocket without any spin (Center CB Hit). Play the OB at pocket speed – this means that you should stroke the cue ball just so fast, that the OB falls into the pocket. You want to concentrate on your stroke, to keep the straight line to the aiming point (AP). Stay down on the shot, until the OB has fallen into the pocket.

Run A: OB Position 1 // Play this set-up for all 15 object balls.
Run B: OB Position 2 // Play this set-up for all 15 object balls.

DRILL DIAGRAM

DRILL TARGET

Play the OB`s into the corner pocket and leave the cue ball below the foot line. You will receive 1 Point for potting the object ball and 1 Point for leaving the cue ball in the lower table zone. Maximum score for this drill is 30. Over time you should reach at least 26 points for each run. This is your Target Line.

This situation is a must-to-know situation. Almost a half-ball hit, this set-up gives you a lot of oppurtunities to play the object ball. For now you have to master this standard position and to improve you potting ability for such a standard cut angle.

SET-UP AND TASK

Set up the Pocket-Sniper at the location of the OB1/OB2 and align it to the right/left corner pocket as shown in the diagram. Place the OB on it. Place the CB on diamond away from the long rail and from the middle of the table.

Play the OB`s into the corner pocket and leave the cue ball within the first three diamonds line on each side of the table. You will receive 1 Point for potting the object ball and 1 Point for leaving the cue ball in the lower table zone. Maximum score for this drill is 30. Before you start the Intermediate Level, you should be able to play these drills without the POCKET-SNIPER, too. You can mark the location of the object and the cue ball with regular reinforcement donuts, like shown in our instruction video. You will notice that your brain has memorized the cuting angles and the right aiming points. If you reach the same high scores 3-times in a row for each drill move on to the next level.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

Be always honest with yourself and your reached scores! The Intermediate Level (IL) will help you to improve your shot making abilities for shots with greater distance. The shots are getting more difficult and we are adding some different speeds and spins to the shots. You can reach an improvement of your potting skills only by working hard on perfecting your technique, particularly the execution of a clean and straight stroke.

PD // INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

PD-IL-01

This situation you already know from the Drill PD-BL-01. The set-up is identical, but in this case you have to add some speed to the shot and some top spin to succeed. Starting from this cue ball position with OB close to the pocket it is quite easy to change the side of the table. Therefor you should practise this drill quite often, but be careful with your speed, if you hit the cue ball too hard or too thin, you could scratch into the side pocket!

SET-UP AND TASK

Set up the Pocket-Sniper at the location of the OB1/OB2 and align it to the right/left corner pocket as shown in the diagram. Place the OB on it. Place the CB at the midpoint of the table. Play the object ball at position OB1/OB2 into the right/left corner pocket as a Follow-Shot (Top-Spin: hit the cue call above center). Play the CB with a middle speed stroke – this means that you should stroke the cue ball so fast, that the CB after pocketing the OB runs into the kitchen (head area of the table). You have to hit the 2nd long rail like shown in the diagram. Concentrate on your stroke and keep the straight line to the aiming point (AP) during the entire stroke. Follow through the CB, stay down until the OB has fallen into the pocket.

Run A: OB Position 1 // Play this set-up for all 15 object balls.
Run B: OB Position 2 // Play this set-up for all 15 object balls.

DRILL DIAGRAM

DRILL TARGET

Play the OB`s into the corner pocket and leave the cue ball above the head line. You will receive 1 Point for potting the OB and 1 Point for leaving the cue ball in the kitchen zone. If you haven`t been honest with yourself and your scores, now you have to be! The Advanced Level (AL) will reveal how good your shot making is and how you are able to control the cue ball. These shots are getting even more difficult and we are adding all kind of speeds and spins to the shots. If you want to be a winner, you have to master these drills over and over again! Work hard, do you best and win more games!

PD // ADVANCED LEVEL

PD-IL-01

This situation you already know from the previous Drills PD-BL-01 and PD_IL_01. The set-up is identical, but now it is getting really difficult, because you have to play a precise position for the next OB. Stay really focus, because this drill will require it.

SET-UP AND TASK

Set up the Pocket-Sniper at the location of the OB1/OB2 and align it to the right/left corner pocket as shown in the diagram. Place the OB on it. You can also use the other Pocket-Sniper foil to mark the position of the next OB (see diagram: OB3). Place the CB at the midpoint of the table. Play the object ball at position OB1/OB2 into the right/left corner pocket as a Draw-Shot (Back-Spin: hit the cue call ablow center) with some Outside-English (In this case Left-Spin). You`ll need some time to find the correct stroke point on the cue ball. Experiment with the amount of draw and side spin, until you are able to reach the required positionf for the cue ball.

Run A: OB Position 1 // Play this set-up for all 10 object balls.
Run B: OB Position 2 // Play this set-up for all 10 object balls.

DRILL DIAGRAM

DRILL TARGET

Play the OB`s into the corner pocket and leave the cue ball in the Target Position Zone (TPZ). If you reached the TPZ, pott also the OB3 into the lower right corner pocket. You will receive 1 Point for potting the first OB, 1 Point for leaving the cue ball in the TPZ and 1 Point for potting the second OB. Maximum score for this drill is 30.
